{"id":4779,"date":"2026-04-02T13:33:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T10:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/avnbmu.com.ua\/?p=4779"},"modified":"2026-04-02T13:33:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T10:33:01","slug":"a-new-ukrainian-orthography-has-come-into-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.avnbmu.com.ua\/en\/news\/a-new-ukrainian-orthography-has-come-into-force\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Ukrainian Orthography Has Come into Force"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On March 28, 2026, the state language standard \u201cUkrainian Orthography\u201d came into force in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scope of the state language standard \u201cUkrainian Orthography\u201d extends to all spheres of public life defined by legislation, in particular the Law of Ukraine \u201cOn Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The standard entered into force following the adoption of Resolution No. 398 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 27, 2026, which repealed Resolution No. 437 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated May 22, 2019, \u201cIssues of Ukrainian Orthography.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The standard itself, approved by Decision No. 47 of the National Commission on State Language Standards dated March 1, 2026, consists of 426 pages and has been published on its official website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no substantive changes to the familiar orthographic norms for users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some key updates in the new orthography:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Words with \u201c\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0454\u043a\u0442\u201d<\/strong>: Words containing the Latin root <em>-ject-<\/em> are written with \u201c\u0454\u201d: \u043f\u0440\u043e\u0454\u043a\u0442, \u043f\u0440\u043e\u0454\u043a\u0446\u0456\u044f, \u0442\u0440\u0430\u0454\u043a\u0442\u043e\u0440\u0456\u044f, \u043e\u0431\u2019\u0454\u043a\u0442.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201c\u041f\u0456\u0432\u201d written separately<\/strong>: It is written separately with nouns: \u043f\u0456\u0432 \u044f\u0431\u043b\u0443\u043a\u0430, \u043f\u0456\u0432 \u0433\u043e\u0434\u0438\u043d\u0438, \u043f\u0456\u0432 \u041a\u0438\u0454\u0432\u0430. If \u201c\u043f\u0456\u0432\u201d forms a single lexical unit with a noun, it is written together: \u043f\u0456\u0432\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0440\u0456\u0432, \u043f\u0456\u0432\u0437\u0430\u0445\u0438\u0441\u0442, \u043f\u0456\u0432\u0430\u0440\u043a\u0443\u0448, \u043f\u0456\u0432\u043a\u0443\u043b\u044f, \u043f\u0456\u0432\u043e\u0431\u0435\u0440\u0442, \u043f\u0456\u0432\u043c\u0456\u0441\u044f\u0446\u044c.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Feminine forms (\u0444\u0435\u043c\u0456\u043d\u0456\u0442\u0438\u0432\u0438)<\/strong>: Feminine forms are officially derived using suffixes -\u043a-, -\u0438\u0446-(\u044f), -\u0438\u043d-(\u044f), -\u0435\u0441- etc., from masculine nouns: \u0430\u0432\u0442\u043e\u0440\u043a\u0430, \u0434\u0438\u0440\u0435\u043a\u0442\u043e\u0440\u043a\u0430, \u0432\u0435\u0440\u0441\u0442\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0438\u0446\u044f, \u043d\u0430\u0431\u0456\u0440\u043d\u0438\u0446\u044f, \u043f\u0440\u043e\u0434\u0430\u0432\u0447\u0438\u043d\u044f, \u043c\u0430\u0439\u0441\u0442\u0440\u0438\u043d\u044f, \u043f\u043e\u0435\u0442\u0435\u0441\u0430.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Compound words written together<\/strong>: Compound abbreviations (mixed and syllabic) and their derivatives are written as one word: \u0430\u0434\u043c\u0456\u043d\u0440\u0435\u0441\u00fd\u0440\u0441, \u0430\u0434\u043c\u0456\u043d\u0440\u0435\u0444\u00f3\u0440\u043c\u0430, \u0431\u0443\u0445\u00f3\u0431\u043b\u0456\u043a, \u0432\u0438\u043a\u043e\u043d\u0440\u00f3\u0431, \u0434\u0435\u0440\u0436\u043c\u0438\u0301\u0442\u043e, \u0434\u0435\u0440\u0436\u0443\u0441\u0442\u0430\u043d\u00f3\u0432\u0430, \u0456\u043d\u043e\u0444\u0456\u0301\u0440\u043c\u0430, \u041a\u0430\u0431\u043c\u0456\u0301\u043d, \u043b\u0456\u0441\u0433\u00f3\u0441\u043f, \u043d\u0430\u0440\u0434\u00e9\u043f, \u041d\u0430\u0446\u0431\u00e1\u043d\u043a, \u043e\u0449\u0430\u0434\u043a\u043d\u0438\u0301\u0436\u043a\u0430, \u043f\u0440\u043e\u0444\u0441\u043f\u0456\u0301\u043b\u043a\u0430, \u0448\u0442\u0440\u0438\u0445\u043a\u00f3\u0434.
